Mundu and Galasia Waterfalls, paleozoic metamorphic rocks, paragneiss, schists, augen-gneiss. Extremely ancient waterfalls of the Municipality of Molochio immersed in prehistoric vegetation. This is the case of the Mundu Waterfalls, located on the Jamundu torrent, with a height of almost 50m located at about 600 m of altitude, the whole surrounding environment, humid but warm, has developed a very particular microclimate which favored the growth and persistence of the rare and giant bulbiferous ferns known as Woodwardia Radicans.
Ascending the ridge in the north-easterly direction, the Schiavo Valley appears. Here flows the Barvi torrent collecting the waters of Jamundu and Palata to become Marro until the confluence with the Fiumara Petrace in the Gioia Tauro plain. This geosite remains right at the end of the geological step formed by the elevation of the faults of Cittanova on the Tyrrhenian side of the Aspromonte Massif. The Barvi torrent is the limit of the Park’s Integral Reserve area. After the large Galasia and the small Galasia Waterfall it develops upstream a sort of double cascade of about 35 m visible only to who practices canyoning.
